dc.description.abstract Interest in foreign language learning, particularly the English language, has considerably increased in the last decades, not only in terms of linguistic aspects but also in psychological and sociological aspects. Hence, the research reported in this thesis accentuated on exploring whether learning English as a foreign language have an impact on learners’ identity and personality. It also tries to show aspects mostly impacted. The study draws on a longitudinal study involving a descriptive analysis method.. The sample consists of 32 first-year master students of English from Foreign languages Department at Djilali Bounaama Khemis-Meliana University, following stratified random sampling techniques In this respect, the tools employed in the field study are a questionnaire and an interview. The questionnaire was administered to students and an interview were done with teachers.. It uses a mixed methods approach to quantify and qualify the data gathered .The findings reveal that the majority of participants’ identity types have not changed.
