Abstract:
The major aim of this research study was to investigate the impact of intercultural communicative
competence module on raising EFL learners’ intercultural communicative competence. A sample
of 83 students was randomly selected from different groups in Djilali Bounaama University of
Khemis Miliana , Algeria.
Data were collected by using the Intercultural Scale adapted from Chen and a questionnaire.
A mixed approach was used for data analysis. It was found that there is a positive relationship
between ICC module and students’ intercultural awareness. Results showed that students are more
aware about the importance of studying the ICC module.
Therefore, it is concluded that studying the intercultural communicative competence syllabus
not only enhance students’ intercultural communicative competence but also improving English as
a foreign language. ICC training is so crucial that educators required contributing in their students’
appreciation for the language and the target culture they study, as well as taking a part in shaping
their students’ awareness of their own culture.
