Fiber soil reinforcement is an interesting and innovative solution for geotechnical engineering
problems. The behavior of fiber-reinforced Sand has been widely studied and reported in the
littérature. Many experiments performed on fiber-reinforced sand have shown that the strength of
the sand increases when the discrete fibers are added to the soil.
The role of reinforcements in the soil matrix is to increase strength and reduce deformation. One
of the first advantages of the random distribution of the fibers is the absence of the weak plane
potential, which can develop in parallel the orientation of the reinforcement.
This study presents a laboratory investigation to evaluate the affect of reinforcement on chlef
Sand, which Is a Sand susceptible to liquefaction with the addition of polypropylene fiber, the
tests will be carried out on samples with a percentage of fiber equal to 0% and 0.2% and 0.5%
and 0.8%. Several tests were carried out to study the mechanical behavior Proctor, CBR, USC.
The résultas showed That the dry density Is between 12% and 13 and the CBR increases by
about 96% while the percentage of UCS increases. Finally, these results confirmed that the
increase of fibers increases the cementé sand reinforcement significantly |
